Autumn

Colors creeping
Like the sinuous curving tracks
Of poison snakes;

Dead flowers
With infected petals
That droop and curl;

Grass twisting
With inflicted pain,
Brown and ill;

Leaves writhing
With over-draughts
Of aged cures;

An acrid venom:
The exquisite crime
Of autumn.
